The Philippines is one of the top biodiversity hot spots, with 592 endemic species of amphibians, birds and mammals considered “threatened or endangered,” and 227 endemic species of flowering plants listed in the “Red List” of “critically endangered” species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

I remember reading somewhere recently that many have actually become extinct.
That’s true. There have been many species that have vanished. Most of the young generations do not have any idea as to what these species are.
You know something? Th Iberian lynx is less than 200 in numbers. I’m sure there are hundreds of other species that just go extinct unnoticed. Industrialization and development has resulted in the loss of their natural habitats. What can you expect!
I think, older species go extinct only to give way to newer ones. I’d like to think of evolution that way. :)
